West Street Market Grand Opening - December 6, 2008
We sure had fun at this gig. I've worked quite a bit on the stage hand/sound engineer side of Food Bank of Northern Nevada events, so it was especially fun for me to be involved in the role of performer. I got to show off my band to some people I really admire and respect.
Quite a few Friends of Hugo have children aged 6 and under, and this was a very kid friendly event. Performing at 3pm on a Saturday drew a bit of a different crowd than say, 10pm on a Saturday...it's giving me creative marketing ideas.
We donated all CD sales from the day to the Food Bank. There was $112 in the tip jar at the end of our set, and I understand that translates into 28 meals. Not bad, not bad.
And the kicker is, we got our picture published in the Reno Gazette Journal, AND they got our name right. James Cavanaugh and the Charm of Hugo in print - a beautiful thing.
